Global - 8D

Global - 8D is a problem solving methodology used in product and process improvement.

It arises from the structure of the eight principles to emphasize the synergy inside the team.

By the concept supposing that the solutions brought by each member of any team will be more effective, the eight standardised principles get to the bottom of the problem by finding the basic reasons.

Toward the end of 1989-1990, G-8D turned into a standard by Ford Motor Company and used nowadays as assembling and other processes in automotive sector, is applied by examining the following principles;

D0 – Preparation for Global 8-D process
D1 – Creation of the team
D2 – Determination of the problem
D3 – Development of the Provisional Prevention Action
D4 – Determination and confirmation of the Basic Reason
D5 – Choice and confirmation of the Definitive Corrective Action for the basic reason
D6 – Application and approbation of the Permanent Actions
D7 – Prevention of the repetitions
D8 – Appreciation of the Team and Individual Participation
